Energooszczędne Żory – EEA granted.

 

„Energooszczędne Żory” – poprawa efektywności energetycznej  budynków użyteczności publicznej przeznaczonych na potrzeby oświaty” (Żory – the energy-efficient city ofnt for the needs of education – improvement of the energy efficiency of public school buildings”) is the title of the project submitted by the Municipality of Żory which received funding from the Financial Mechanism of the European Economic Area (EEA) 2009 – 2014.

 

The main objective of the project is to reduce greenhouse gas emission, air pollutants produced during combustion of heating fuels and modernization of the lighting system of five schools in Żory: School Complex No. 5 (ZS5), School Complex No. 2 (ZS2), Centre of Vocational and Continuing Education, Special School Complex (ZSS) and Primary School No. 3 (SP3). The implementation will result in rationalization of energy consumption in buildings which in turn will reduce the cost of heating and lighting.

 

The primary reasons for undertaking the project include:

– Insufficient level of thermal performance of the building’s envelopes (walls, roofs, windows and doors),

– Low efficiency and insufficient technical condition of the heating system and tap water system,

– Worn out heating system in ZS5,

– Energy-intensive lighting system.

 

The expected objectives will be achieved through the use of proven and widely used thermo-modernization actions.

 

The material scope of the project:

 

 

School Complex No. 5 (ZS5):

  • polystyrene foam insulation of external walls and plinth of the highschool,
  • insulation of the flat roof of the primary school,
  • replacement of windows and doors,
  • central heating modernization – replacement of pipelines,
  • modernization of hot tap water system,
  • replacement of existing boilers,
  • replacement of lighting with energy-efficient one.

 

 

School Complex No. 2 (ZS2):

  • polystyrene foam insulation of external walls,
  • replacement of windows and doors,
  • replacement of lighting with energy-efficient one,
  • insulation of ceilings.

 

 

Centre of Vocational and Continuing Education:

  • polystyrene foam insulation of external walls, basement walls and walls at ground level,
  • flat roof insulation,
  • replacement of windows and doors,
  • modernization of central heating system,
  • modernization of hot tap water system,
  • replacement of lighting with energy-efficient one.

 

 

Special School Complex (ZSS):

  • polystyrene foam insulation of external walls and walls at ground level,
  • insulation of ventilated flat roof with mineral wool granules,
  • replacement of doors,
  • modernization of hot tap water system,
  • replacement of lighting with energy-efficient one.

 

 

Primary School No. 3 (SP3):

  • polystyrene foam insulation of external walls,
  • polystyrene foam insulation of flat roof.
  • replacement of windows,
  • modernization of central heating system,
  • modernization of hot tap water system,
  • replacement of lighting with energy-efficient one.

 

The result of the task will:

  1. a) reduce CO2 emissions by 1 023.69 Mg/year* achieved by reducing the final energy demand in buildings by a total of 2 025 007 kWh/year, ie. from 3 907 049 to 1 882 042 kWh/year (51,83%).
  1. b) reduce the operating costs from 989 068.05 to 561 741.26, ie. by 427 326,78 PLN/year (43.20%).

 

Total eligible cost of the project: 5 079 126,00 PLN

The requested grant: 3 809 928,00 PLN
